About Us

History

In 1992, instigated by Lee H and Wendy K, a meeting was called asking for expressions of interest in forming a Quilt Guild – 22 people attended.

Many of those were from the Nillumbik Quilters who has existed for about 10 years, and the Cowin Street Quilters who had existed for a brief time.

In November 1992 the North of the Yarra Quilting Guild was formed. The name was chosen, a committee formed, with Lee H as the President. Pamela G’s design was chosen for the logo.

The number of members went from 8 in April 1993 to 81 in 1996 and already a very full program was happening each year: monthly guild meetings with guest speakers or workshops, plus an annual retreat and an Exhibition.

In 2002, for their 10th anniversary there were 151 members and the Guild had gone from strength to strength with a very active program, as in the early days.
