In November 1992 the North of the Yarra Quilting Guild (‘NOTYQ’) was formed. Membership commenced with eight ladies, some of which are still active members. Membership has grown to more than 150. Gatherings originally took place in Diamond Creek and in 2023 the Guild relocated to its current location at The Hub in Hurstbridge.
We are a welcoming group of quilters with a huge diversity of skill levels and styles. While we are clearly big fans of quilting, members also engage in many varied types of crafts, e.g. bag making, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch to name but a few.
We come together to share, learn, inspire, encourage each other, have a laugh or just a enjoy a quiet cuppa.
Guild meetings are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. (with the exception of January and December). The meeting starts at 1.00 p.m. Members are welcome to bring hand work only on these days. Meetings usually have a guest speaker and always include a raffle, door prize and show and tell.

NOTY has a very active Community Quilt Program. Members put many hours into making quilts that are donated to individuals who are doing it tough medically and personally and also to organisations caring for others in the community.
Our quilts are well accepted and appreciated by the people who receive them.
The NOTYQ annual retreat is held on the first full weekend in August each year and is a firm favourite of members. The retreat is held at Lake Dewar Lodge, Myrniong, (15 mins from Bacchus Marsh).
NOTYQ members showcase their creations at our quilt show held every second year on the first weekend in October at the Eltham Community and Reception Centre, Eltham.
As well as a display of quilts, there is a challenge section in addition to a vendor’s market and a tearoom selling refreshments.
